A Trip to the Grand Canyon

I would like to go to the Grand Canyon. The environment would be so much different than it is in Maryland. The Grand Canyon seems like such an interesting place. It is known for its colorful landscape and overwhelming size. The Grand Canyon is carved by the Colorado River. The weather changes according to the elevation. It will be hot if I visit during the summer. I would take a good pair of sneakers or boots, a lot of water, clothes, and money for this trip because I am going to explore the wildlife of the Grand Canyon.
My grandparents live in Arizona, so I can stay with them during my visit. I would get there by a military plane with my family. We have flown to California and Hawaii over the last two summers, so we could drive from the closest military base to my grandparents’ house.  I will probably be in the Grand Canyon National Park during most of my visit. They have tours that will teach us all we need to know. I am expecting to take many pictures during this trip. This will be an unforgettable experience!

Jon Krakauer's Life

Jon Krakauer was born in 1954, and he grew up in Corvallis, Oregon. He is a lot like the character in Into The Wild because they both traveled alone in Alaska. Krakauer was interested in mountaineering. He reached the top of Mt. Everest in 1996. During a storm, four out of five of his teammates died. He wrote a book about his journey called Into Thin Air. He has many adventurous articles and stories that are bestsellers.

Getting Ready To Go Into the Wild

The novel Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer is a story about Chris McCandless. He left his family, abandoned his car, and gave away his savings. He was a smart man, but he decided to leave everything and travel to Alaska. He passed away after 119 days of survival. He was poisoned by potatoe seeds. This book sounds adventurous and very interesting. I can't wait to read it!
